The Department of State Lands (DSL) recently received unclaimed assets from approximately 27,000 bank accounts that were transferred from Washington Mutual (WaMu) to Chase when WaMu went into receivership. After failed attempts to locate the owners, Chase turned the accounts over to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), who transferred the funds to DSL's Unclaimed Property Section.
We anticipate having all account names posted on the Web in July or early August, at which time the funds will be available for claim by rightful owners. It could take up to 90 days to receive funds after the claim is made.
